Corporatocracy – The New age weapon less war

The world in the last six or seven decades after the World Wars appear peaceful by and large, albeit a few chequered and localized conflicts, wars, and unrests. However, this harmony that we apparently experience is a mere illusion, the truth is far from it. Imperialism has found new ways to establish their supremacy, they play the same old game, which is as much medieval as themselves, but with a distinctive difference. Post the globalization the game has taken a different route which has terrifying dimensions. Throughout history empires were built through brutal bloodsheds using the armed forces or the fear of it. But, after the World War II, and the rise of the Soviet Union and the fear of nuclear holocaust, they realise that the old method of conquest is no more practical. The first agenda of the imperialistic forces were to stop the countries aligning under the soviet-communist-socialist belt, this was a work in progress for them until they succeeded by the nineties. The crumbling of the Soviet Union was followed by the advent of globalization, which is not a coincidence, though China has been moderately successful to keep these imperialistic forces at bay and remain a hurdle to their supremacy.
The US government, the world bank & the IMF, and the large multi-national corporations, all of them appear independent to each other but are part of a nexus formed to loot and control the third world. This is done legally by creating a corrupt system for their global dominance. If one closely watches the career profile of many a senior executive of these multi-national corporations, you will find that they were government defence secretaries in the past and are future governors of the World Bank or the reverse. The career graph of these key executives might look normal to us from far. However, this is just an inter department transfer done with intent for getting them orientated and exposed to various functions for grooming and elevating them into Key positions of Corporatocracy. The process starts by the appointment of these well-trained executives as high-profile mediators who are also known as economic hit men. During this assignment, they are purposely listed under the payroll of the private multi-national corporations, this is done to avoid the direct government link, for the risk of getting exposed and caught, and if they are caught by any unexpected rule of the law in any other country which they prospect, the government is not held responsible legally. Usually, such exposures would be labelled as corporate greed rather than government policy. The job of these mediators or Dalals are to encourage world leaders to promote commercial interests of the United States. This is done by cooked up financial feasibility studies, rigged elections, bribes, extortions, sex and murder. In the end these third world leaders are caught in the web of debt that ensures their loyalty to achieve the political, economic, and military needs of the US. Some of the real good and genuine world leaders who oppose and do not fall into the trap of this fraternity of corporates, governments and banks are later often seen in the obituary columns, they mostly die in accidents or in other unnatural ways.
Countries around the world are cheated out of trillions and trillions of dollars, the funds are drained out using the world Bank, which has been in fact constituted in the pretext to support international development. The world bank transfers these funds into the accounts of huge corporations and the corporations in turn transfer a portion of it into the pockets of few wealthy and influential families of these third world countries who control its natural resources, be it oil, coal and other minerals or metals. In turn these leaders bolster their political positions in their country by apparently bringing in development in the form of Industrial parks, airports and power plants which appears beneficial to the common people. This is how the top 1% of third world households accounts for up to 90% of the country’s wealth while the majority in these countries are left to survive on very little. Crony capitalism is a term we often use in the third word to highlight the nexus between rich businessmen and politicians of our countries, about how businesses benefit from a close relationship with state power through favourable regulatory environment which is achieved through corruption. Crony capitalism though appear like a home-grown produce, but is not. It has a foreign dad; Crony capitalism is the child of Corporatocracy.
The subtlety of this modern empire building put the Roman centurions, the Spanish conquistadors, and the eighteenth- Nineteenth century European colonial powers to shame. They are sophisticated, they are polite and receptive, they dress like schoolteachers, bankers and government clerks and are trained to appear ethical and friendly. In the pretext of sanctioning grants and loans to help the poor nations, they visit project sites, stroll through impoverished villages, assure them prosperity, talk to local televisions about the miracles that they are bringing up to save the world, profess altruism, and lecture at best of universities. They portray themselves as accepted, hardly resort to anything illegal because the system itself is built on deception and trickery, while at the same time the system is made to appear legitimate.
The Global empire is built by forcing other nations to be submissive to this Corporatocracy. Though the people in the frontline appear professional, they are no less than the underworld Dons. They offer favours in the forms of loans for building these infrastructure - power plants, sea and airports and industrial parks. However, there is a pre-condition for such loans. The large engineering and construction companies from the United States must only be given the contracts for these projects, obviously at highly jacked up values. Therefore, the money never leaves the shores of United states. It is merely transferred from the world bank account to the offices of the Corporates within their territory. Even though the money comes back almost immediately to the corporations that are members of the same corporatocracy, the third world nation which is supposed to be the beneficiary of this fund must pay it back in full, with interest. The loans are so huge that the debtor is forced to default the payments, and when this happens, which will anyway happen, which is what the creditor desire, they, like the way bank recovery departments treat us when we default on our credit card payments, demand their money. It is only that the form of demand is different, which is either one or more of the following – vote in favour of the US policies in the United Nations, permission to set up US Military bases in their country or access to the natural resources of their country. The debtor still owes money to the creditor, and another country is added to the Global empire. Of every 100 $ siphoned out of a country, 75% goes to the corporate companies, much of the balance 25% goes for foreign debt, government fees and kickbacks. Hardly 2% is spent on the health, education, food and other basic amenities of the real beneficiaries, the poor who needs the most, whose life has been affected, displaced, and dented by mining, drilling and construction and they die of hunger and malnutrition without access to edible food and potable water.
Today, we see the results of this system run havoc creating a dominos effect in every sphere and corner around the world. Highly paid and well-educated executives at our most respected companies hire people at near slave wages and push them to toil under inhumane conditions. Oil and chemical companies knowingly dispose toxic wastes into the rainforests and rivers consciously killing the living organisms, natural ecosystems, and the local ethnic culture. Every essential commodity required for basic living is deprived by industrializing and centralising it. The pharmaceutical industry deprive half the population across the world of medicine and let them die and so does the food industry. The education industry deprive education and construction industry deprive shelter.
In their drive to enhance their global empire, the corporations, banks, and governments- the Corporatocracy use their financial and political strength to ensure that our Universities, businesses, and media support this fabricated and malicious concept. The achievements of those who ‘make it big’ are projected as great success. They are presented to us to appear as our role models, with an intent to inspire all of us to consume more and more. Every opportunity is used to convince us that consumerism is our fundamental duty and is the true method for the economic progress. Corporatocracy is not merely an organised conspiracy, it is not that simple, it is much beyond that. Conspirators can be rooted and brought to justice, if not immediately, at least later when the times are favourable. This system, however, is fuelled by something more dangerous than conspiracy. It is driven by not just a small crew of malicious people, but by majority including us rather inadvertently, because this concept has become accepted as gospel though not naturally but by planned implementation. The idea that all economic growth benefits humankind and that greater the growth, the more widespread is the benefits is well sold, though we know that this concept is gravely incorrect. It is pretty evident now that in almost all the countries, such economic growths had only benefitted a few, a very small part of its population and has eventually resulted in an increasingly desperate situation for the majority. Do you think that the economic professors at leading Universities does not understand this flaw in the Capitalist macroeconomic model? They do know that this model of economy only makes a few at the top of the pyramid filthy rich while it does nothing for those at the bottom other than pushing them further down. However, though they know this, they do not admit to this because these colleges and universities are funded by the very same big corporations, speaking against them will put the career and life of these academicians at stake, so they prefer to keep mum and continue to preach what is told to be preached for which they are rewarded, and when men and women are rewarded for greed, greed becomes a corruption motivator. The same is the case with the journalists in the media which is all almost owned by the corporates and is used to convince the masses that their way is the right way, which is done by feeding us with fabricated information disguised as genuine facts into our living rooms systemically, our consent is manufactured without our permission.
What can be done about this? When is this seemingly unquestionable and ruthless conquest going to end? Well! The first step towards addressing this issue like any other malice is to realise, understand and accept that it is a malice, a rather big one. Understanding the problem is the beginning of the solution, we can start by trying to be not part of this fake glitter. We need to inspire and raise ourselves to new levels of dedication to realize our dream of a more equal, empathetic, and honourable social structure. When more of us become aware of how we are being exploited by this economic engine that creates an unquenchable hunger for the worlds resources that results in systems that nurture servitude, we will no longer tolerate it. We will reassess our role in the world where a few live in luxuries and the majority die in poverty, pollution, and violence. We will commit ourselves to navigating a path towards compassion, democracy, and social justice for all, for which we can draw inspiration and hope from our very own history, for history reminds us that all imperialistic empires have ended tragically. They don’t last for ever. No country or a group of countries have ever dominated over a longer period by exploiting others.
